Traction Force Microscopy

Numerous different techniques that enable experimentalist to quantify cellular traction forces have been developed over the last few years. In our lab, we have implemented a home-made Fourier-Transform Traction Cytometry (FTTC) method enabling us to easily monitor stress exerted by cells over time (total produced force, averaged stress, contractile energy, contractile moment).

Here is a example of a time-resolved traction force measurement of a single cell dividing on a soft substrate.
